Privacy

What this site keeps about you.

Nothing, unless you sign up for early access, take the research survey or email me. Here is what happens in each case.

Who is responsible

Yavar Dezfouli, Essen, Germany. You can reach me at contact@yavard.de.

Hosting

This site runs on a server I rent from Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in Stockholm, Sweden (EU). Oracle processes data only to run that server.

Visiting the site

The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, tracking, external fonts or third-party scripts. To deliver a page, the server has to receive your IP address, but the website does not keep access logs of visits. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (running the site securely).

Early-access signups

On the MesoLab and AEDA pages you can sign up for early access. I store your email address, the optional answers you give (for MesoLab, what your lab works on; for AEDA, which computer you use and what you mostly use it for) and the time you signed up, on this site’s server. I use them only to write to you about early access to that product. Nothing is shared, sold or used for advertising.

I delete your details when you ask, or once early access is over. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to contact@yavard.de.

To stop automated spam, the server counts signups per IP address for ten minutes. That count is held only in memory and is never written to disk.

The research survey

The survey at /research-survey/ has its own privacy notice, which explains what is stored and for how long. Its server writes technical access logs, including your IP address, to the system logs. These are kept for up to 5 weeks for security and error-finding, then deleted automatically.

Email

If you email me, I use your address and message only to reply. Mail runs on the same server. I delete it when it’s no longer needed.

Links to other sites

GitHub, LinkedIn, X, Instagram and PubMed are plain links. Nothing is sent to them unless you click.

Your rights

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy of your data, and object to processing, by writing to contact@yavard.de. You can also complain to the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen.
